Stream: Thundercat – Apocalypse

Brainfeeder, one of the premier independent labels out of L.A. led by producer Flying Lotus, has one of the strongest rosters out there. Labelmate, friend and bassist Thundercat is getting set to release his sophomore effort Apocalypse, the follow-up to The Golden Age of the Apocalypse.

Thundercat along with co-producers Flying Lotus and Mono/Poly have crafted a supremely funky record with jazz influences and a soulful sound. Thundercat takes us through a journey of highs and lows from “Heartbreaks + Setbacks,” an upbeat yet melancholy track, while there are also more catchy tracks like “Oh Sheit it’s X.”

This is a superb effort by the bassist, as each track is a bit different, yet all together it’s a cohesive record, no doubt due to the help of FlyLo and Mono/Poly. You can purchase the album in just about a week as it will be released June 4th.
