Souleance presents ‘Raw Funk #02’ (The Find Premiere)

Raw chocolate is good for your health, and so is Raw Funk: beats without sugarcoating them.

From the very second that “Where Do You Go (Baby)” sample and off-kilter drum pattern kick in, you’ll be hooked. Eight tracks of deep bass, funky melodies, and boom bap drums by French producer Fulgeance and DJ Soulist, together known as Souleance.

Raw Funk #2 features Rhodes by Vincent Choquet (of Aérobrasil & DBFC) on “Basta”, and guitar by Nicolas Delahaye (of Concrete Knives) and bass by Fulgeance on “Paule’s Goulash.”

Oh, and now that summer has arrived: it makes for the perfect timing to revisit Souleance’s François b/w Sète record. Which–sacré bleu!–is surprisingly still available on 7″.

Or, alternatively, listen to Raw Funk #2 on SoundCloud:

Just an ordinary guy always on the hunt for extraordinary music. Not just as the founder of The Find Magazine & Rucksack Records, but also as a freelance music journalist (bylines at Tracklib, Bandcamp, Wax Poetics, DIG Mag, among others) and—above all—out of love for all kinds of good music.
