We’re not sure what was a bigger surprise; that People Under The Stairs’ new album ‘Highlighter’ will be released today or that it was actually scheduled for a release last week. Even though the release is delayed, it’s still great news out of the blue: today marks the official release date of ‘Highlighter’, the eighth studio album from People Under The Stairs.
“‘Highlighter’ is forever, and I want it to come out the way it was intended to. The record is extremely complicated and ambitious with massive track counts and performances that have taken weeks to mix and get perfect”, says Thes One in a statement explaining the delay. “We didn’t consider pushing it back until we absolutely had to, and so last night, at about 2AM, faced with a finished album that was not mastered to the best of it’s potential, we had to call it.”
The album (vinyl, digital and CD) is now scheduled for release at midnight PST on Thursday September 29th. Watch Thes One explaining the situation below, or read the full statement here.
