A Crate Digging Trip Through India by Dutch producer El Pres Beats
A four-week roundtrip through India inspired Dutch beatmaker El Pres Beats to create this instrumental EP, sampling a bunch of old Indian records.
The title Tala Tape refers to a traditional rhythmic pattern in classical Indian music. “Tala, in the music of India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan, is a metric cycle with a specific number of beats—from 3 to 128—that recur in the same pattern throughout a musical performance,” explains El Pres Beats on his Bandcamp page.
Dutch bass music producer Gumnaam (another Indian touch: he named himself after a Bollywood movie) makes the only guest appearance on the EP, as the co-producer of “Kranti.”
