News: Lesson Six joins forces with The Find Magazine

Nearly three years ago Lesson Six opened its doors as a collective of music lovers striving for something more from hip hop. The site is a goldmine full of interesting ‘finds’: 1,000 posts, 82 features, 51 reviews, 2 live shows and 1 print magazine worth. But, a new year brings change. Starting from today, Lesson Six and The Find are now one.

Originally looking into the possibility of better referencing cross-posts, it soon became obvious that a closer relationship between both our platforms made the most sense. The Lesson Six team will continue bringing “Cliché-Free Hip-Hop” to your ears but now together, here at TheFindMag.com.

Sam Morris, founder and editor-in-chief of Lesson Six: “We’ve long been a fan of the work the fellow hip hop enthusiasts at The Find do and couldn’t find a more natural fit for the two sites. We’ve got big plans for 2013 as a unified outlet, the first of which includes a shiny new website to support the combined content we’ll be posting together.”

We’re planning to launch the new and improved The Find site some time this Spring. Next to that we have ideas for new printed magazines and there will be a lot of digital collaborations and physical projects in 2013/2014. Also stay tuned for retrospective features on Lesson Six to dive into their archives.

If you have any questions or concerns we’ll be happy to answer them in the comments below or on our Facebook page. Sam: “We’re incredibly excited to start working as a bigger site and looking forward to the next step in our mission to ‘find’ the best progressive and alternative hip hop around.”

Just an ordinary guy always on the hunt for extraordinary music. Not just as the founder of The Find Magazine & Rucksack Records, but also as a freelance music journalist (bylines at Tracklib, Bandcamp, Wax Poetics, DIG Mag, among others) and—above all—out of love for all kinds of good music.
