Guest Mix: LTF (Black Milk Music) – High Spin (All-Vinyl Mix)
Black Milk Music‘s Joseph is a likely candidate for a Best Pitch Award for introducing LTF to me: “Based in Moscow, LTF is running a record store on a houseboat and keeps producing, sometimes unearthing rare Soviet loops, and doing beat-juggling on current releases.” That surely sparked my interest.
His Facebook page is the place to go for those beat-juggling sessions and features of new-found loops: from a Bulgarian orchestrated version of The Mohawks’ “Champ” to breaks and loops from old Soviet state label Melodiya. Partly coming from the Onkai Master houseboat-slash-record store as his crate digging playground.
LTF has been part of Black Milk’s roster since 2015. On his (excellent!) latest 7″, Catapult / Spiral, he creates acid jazz and house grooves using his sampler, double bass and old Soviet synths, while working together with Russian trumpet player Ivan Akatov. Saint Germain on a field trip to Moscow.
