Video: Large Professor on Nas’ ‘Illmatic’

Large Professor speaks up about Nas’ legendary hip hop album “Illmatic”. Together with DJ Premier, Q-Tip, L.E.S., and Pete Rock, Large Pro cooked up a true timeless classic back in 1994. 

Large Professor: “It was what I call the ‘burner age.’ Like a burner [is] not just like basic graffiti. [It’s] like a real thought-out intricate masterpiece. So when we started sampling, that’s really when the music started gettin’ nice and colorful… joints like ‘Halftime’ is like a musical painting of the streets.”
