Stream: Ben Jamin – The Wire

New Zealand producer Ben Jamin has been hard at work in the lab cooking up an excellent instrumental LP inspired by revered television series The Wire. If you are a fan of hip hop beats and The Wire, then this a nice little collectors item. The LP has a highly limited physical press of 30 clear 12″ vinyl records.

The music dwells somewhere in the murky shadows of traditional boom bap with a smattering of experimental beat tendencies. Rich soundscapes are complimented with gritty percussion and some great artist collaborations with Prof.Logik, Esther Stephens, and Rachel Fraser.

Senator Clay Davis can be heard in the background of many tracks with his classic “Sheeeeeiiit” line, as well as many other well placed snippets of dialogue from The Wire. All in all, the release is a worthy homage to one of the most intricate and intense television series.
