Pick Of The Week #34: The Find at Dour

Misteur Valaire is neither electro or hip hop nor is it jazz or rock. In fact, it’s a wild mix of all that! The five members spread a contagious humorous energy with brass, samplings and beats everywhere they play. They always find a way to turn a simple concert into a delirious playful and festive adventure! The quintet offers an impressive show in a setting reminiscent of a 1979 studio, creating a real cinematic experience. So that’s what you can expect on Dour Festival besides artists such as Public Enemy, Flying Lotus, Ghostpoet, Rusko, Bibio, Electric Wire Hustle, The Herbaliser and many more.

After last year’s series and our two previous installments on the 2011 edition of Dour, here’s the third one already! With these posts we focus on the Belgian festival. Why? Simple. Because the line-up fits The Find Magazine’s music taste perfectly.

And why not involve our favourite Belgian radio station with our favourite Belgian festival? Well, that’s enough with the ass-kissing for now. It was hard to pick one song to feature as Laid Back Radio Pick Of The Week from the 200 artists playing at Dour. But, we managed! We selected our personal favourite ‘find’. A surprising act we didn’t know yet, and would like to introduce you to. Misteur Valaire from Canada.

How to describe Misteur Valaire’s style? Well, it’s neither electro or hip hop nor is it jazz or rock. In fact, it’s a wild mix of all that! The five members spread a contagious humorous energy with brass, samplings and beats everywhere they play.
