Art: J Dilla by Francis Vallejo

The Art 4 Dilla contest is going on for quite a while now, but the end is in sight. The lucky winners will be announced before the end of the year, but as of now it’s still possible to vote. We take that opportunity to support Francis Vallejo’s submission. “I went to school with Illa J aka John Yancey and my father worked with Denaun Porter’s father. I live and breath Detroit hip hop and this piece is a tribute to the legacy of the great J Dilla,” he says. Let’s help him out and vote for his artwork!

Although we are biased since Francis’ Dilla artwork was published in Issue Three of our online magazine (in related news, our new printed issue will be released this month!) , we can still neutrally say that his submission is amazing.

The top voted contestants artwork will be produced as a limited edition Giclee art print, signed by the winning artist and J Dilla’s Mother, Ma Dukes. We will make these signed prints available for pre-order, as well as a limited number of unsigned lithograph posters. The proceeds go to The J Dilla Foundation to help fund their ongoing programs.
