Art: C.R.E.A.M. Cake Rules Everything Around Me (WU HA: Wu-Tang Art)

WU HA is a year-long art initiative celebrating the 20th anniversary of the timeless classic Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) and Wu-Tang Clan’s iconic Wu-symbol. The featured works show the self-made mythology and lifestyle of hip hop’s Shaolin masters.

‘C.R.E.A.M’ Cake Rules Everything Around Me is also part of the exhibition, which is a project by photographer Henry Hargreaves and cake artist Amirah Kassem. Each piece is inspired by elements that represent the Wu-Tang Clan, like karate, song lyrics (“Ice Cream”), Killa Beez, chess, and liquid swords. Watch some of the photographed custom cakes below, courtesy of First We Feast, followed by a recap of the expo’s opening.

The Wu-inspired multi-media group exhibition runs through December 9th at Wallplay (NYC, Lower East Side), and reopens as an exhibition at the Japanese American National Museum in September of 2014. Among the featured artists are Mathematics, Miya Ando, Ryan Keeley, Dee & Ricky, DJ Spooky, Tom Sachs, Danny Hastings, BRKYRD, and Wu-Tang founder RZA.

Just an ordinary guy always on the hunt for extraordinary music. Not just as the founder of The Find Magazine & Rucksack Records, but also as a freelance music journalist (bylines at Tracklib, Bandcamp, Wax Poetics, DIG Mag, among others) and—above all—out of love for all kinds of good music.
